![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I’ll miss Janie and Cabel, and I hope they’re in some happy version of the future they chose. : Gone (Wake) (9781416979210) by McMann, Lisa and a great selection of similar New, Used and Collectible Books available now at great prices. But wow, what a great conclusion to the series! I loved every bit of this book (even the sadder parts). Lisa McMann wrote Gone authentically! If you want the perfect, happily-ever-after that’s wrapped in a bow, you probably won’t be happy. And even though a lot of important things are happening, the pace just feels more leisurely. While the entire series is in diary format, Gone feels even more introspective. Instead of being wrapped up in crime-fighting and mystery, Janie does a lot of thinking and meditating. ![]() This book feels slower than its predecessors. So often we want books to end perfectly and make us believe in life as this great and magical thing, but Gone (Lisa McMann) does a good job of being honest in how life is beautiful yet daunting and complex and ambiguous.įade left us at the end of the scandal and case at Fieldridge High, and while we do see a bit of the fallout, McMann blows past these details, and Gone really centralizes its focus on what Janie will do in the future. I mean clearly, it’s great and beautiful and really real. I’ve taken weeks to process, and still, I struggle with what to even say. ![]()
